In the essence of a sustainable village, rather than tear down a building at the Gateway to Salmo, HERITAGE HUB has been working at rehabilitating 423 Railway Avenue. Considering everything, from our own sweat equity to actual expenses, this has been a substantial process and we'll keep you updated on the extent and cost of renovation and remodel. We have mitigated the mold factor in the crawl space, replaced dry rot in the rim joists, torn out funky floor and wall coverings, and taken 12 truckloads to the dump and recycling depot. Work continues on the failing vinyl and wood siding, failed windows, adding art display windows for outside viewing as well as adding fill and grading this contaminated site. Energy efficient lighting is being implemented and we're currently researching the best way to move forward with the heating source. We are also proud to be adding a “Betty Approved” fully accessible bathroom in the building. This is what sustainability is all about! Reclamation & Construction Expenses to Date. . .
